Professional Profile

I am a cognitive scientist with broad interest and strong background knowledge in connected areas – including Neuroscience, Computer Science (especially Artificial Intelligence as a topic), Biology and Behavioural Science.

I am cooperative and adaptable. The central question of my research is what makes a system a cognitive one. More specific, I am interested to understand basic principles that allow a system to plan ahead. I approach this topic in an interdisciplinary way by constructing a minimal cognitive system for the control of a robot, incorporating and relating findings from diverse research areas, as are Biology (e.g., biologically inspired structure of walking control), Cognitive Science (e.g., Simulation Hypothesis, Theory of Mind), Neuroscience (e.g., Mirror Neuron system), Behavioural Science or Linguistics (e.g., Categorical Perception).

Research on evolution of a shared vocabulary for movements in a population of robots in a cooperation with Luc Steels.
